A Human Resource professional with over 20 years of progressive experience in human resource management, organizational development, labour relations, and public sector administration, Dr. Henry Muchiri Nyamu holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration, a Master of Business Administration (Strategic Management), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), a Bachelor of Business Administration (Human Resource Management), a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, a Diploma in Human Resource Management, and is also a Registered Nurse (RN). He is a Certified Human Resource Practitioner of Kenya (CHRP-K), a Certified Productivity Management Professional (CPM), a Certified Pension Trustee, and an Accredited Court Annexed Mediator. His professional expertise spans workforce planning, recruitment and selection, employee relations, performance management, policy formulation, pension and retirement administration, institutional governance, and alternative dispute resolution. As the Senior Human Resource Manager and Head of the Human Resource Department at Chuka University, he oversees the University’s human resource function by coordinating workforce planning, recruitment, appointments, promotions, staff development, succession management, employee welfare, leave administration, disciplinary processes, and retirement benefits for both academic and administrative staff.
He provides professional advice to Management on human resource matters, ensures compliance with employment legislation and public sector regulations, and oversees the implementation of policies and systems that support effective service delivery while providing reliable human resource information for institutional planning and decision-making. Under his stewardship, the Human Resource Department has strengthened organizational productivity, enhanced performance management practices, and promoted a culture of continuous improvement. These efforts contributed to Chuka University being recognized as the First Runner-Up in the Most Productive University Award (FY 2024/2025) during the National Productivity and Performance Conference 2026, reflecting the University’s commitment to excellence, innovation, efficiency, and sound human resource management.
